About me

DSC_2072-5_edited.jpg

My name is Katarzyna Borowczak and I am a psychologist (MSc), special educator teacher (BA), and grief and wellbeing educator.

In 2021, as a result of personal loss and reflection on what I would like a tender and supportive conversation about death, dying, and grief to look like, I started Project Conversation. I've been inviting people from different countries and cultures to talk about their experience of grief, wishing to find out how they felt, how they were supported, and how their grief experience shaped them.  All my conversations are available here.

In 2023, I spent 6 months in Central and South America, where I explored the topic of death, burial, and grief by talking to local people about the death of their loved ones, support from their communities, funeral and religious rites, and their own mortality.

Now, in my work, through workshops, training, and individual consultations, I encourage organisations, charities, and individuals to embrace dialogue and education surrounding grief and to look at how illness, caregiving, death, and grief can affect the functioning and well-being of an individual, families, employees and the dynamics and effectiveness of entire teams. I help companies and individuals to become grief-friendly and find resources and strategies to provide a supportive approach to people who are in crisis or are grieving.

Additionally, I offer individual support consultations for those who have experienced loss and those seeking guidance on tenderly supporting others during the grieving process.

Education and experience

I completed a bachelor's degree (BA) in special education with a specialisation in education and rehabilitation of people with intellectual disabilities at Adam Mickiewicz University (Poland) and a master's degree (MSc) in psychology at East London University (UK).

I gained professional experience while living in London, where I worked in the charity sector on social projects supporting people living with and beyond cancer, as well as healthcare professionals.

In 2021, I created Project Conversation to which I invite people from different countries and cultural backgrounds to talk about their experiences of death, dying, and grief. All my conversations are available here.

I am also a member of the Institute of the Good Death's collective, where I am involved in creating spaces for dialogue and education about dying, death, and grief.

I speak English, Polish, and Spanish fluently.
